Roles and Responsibilities:
Senior Oracle DB Admin
The successful candidate should have a comprehensive knowledge and experience with industry best practices in Oracle database maintenance, administration, design, operations in a UNIX and Linux Operating System environment; and, a track record of providing high-quality, reliable service in a timely and effective manner.
Common Responsibilities for this position include
Monitor production Oracle database(s), identifying emerging data-related issues, including system-level and SQL-level performance and database storage utilization, performing tuning and initiating proactive mitigating measures as appropriate; provides data-related incident response; and coordinates with Operations
Support and others as necessary.
Architecting solutions for massive scale, resiliency and maintainability.
Maintains Oracle database monitoring tools and infrastructure, and develops new monitoring functionality where alerting capabilities are deficient.
Responds quickly and effectively to production issues, troubleshooting solutions, and taking responsibility for seeing those solutions through resolution.
Identifies root causes and provides corrective actions for highly complex availability, capacity, security, performance, and quality issues affecting the database.
Experience building sophisticated and highly automated infrastructure.
Creates a capacity planning model for Oracle database(s), driven by historical patterns.
Review/deploy data-manipulation (DML) and data-definition (DDL) changes as needed.
Perform routine Oracle database maintenance activities in support of our commercial product, including:
Perform table maintenance and add data types in all environments as needed by business requirements
Perform customer data cleanup in staging and production environments based on customer requests.
Add accounts for new customers and their authorized users
Review and execute new queries as needed to support business requirements.
Creates, maintains, tests, executes, and refines continuous deployment-style automation scripts for all Oracle database maintenance activities, applying a discipline of continuous improvement to continually strive for increased efficiency.
Stays current and continually increases expertise in database design, maintenance, administration, monitoring, tuning, backups, and database performance.
Skills:
A deep understanding of how an Oracle database utilizes memory, CPU, and swap space in UNIX and Linux environments.
VMware VSphere Vcenter
Expert level knowledge and skills in various Oracle database recovery scenarios in a disaster recovery environment.
VMware vRealize Operations
Expert knowledge and skills in master-to-master and master-to-slave replication using Oracle snapshot replication functionality.
VMware Architecture and Design Oversight
Expert knowledge and skills in the use of Oracle materialized views.
Expert level experience with Oracle tuning tools of explain plan, TKPROF, SQL_TRACE, AWR, ADDM, ASH, ORADEBUG and DBMS_MONITOR.
Expert level knowledge and skills in Oracle database schema management, data file and tablespace management, and object privilege management.
Demonstrated experience with installing, patching and maintaining Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)/ Grid control versions 10g, 11g and 12c; and, utilizing OEM in database management activities, database and SQL performance monitoring and troubleshooting, job scheduling and in the management of Data Guard fast-failover environments.
Demonstrated experience in performing data loads using the Oracle utilities of SQL*Loader, export/import and datapump.
Working knowledge in Oracle ASM
